1.Who we are
Next Clean is a web app that residential cleaning companies in the United States use to run their business: schedules, clients, estimates, invoices and payments. Next Clean is operated by Lynx Ledgers LLC, a Massachusetts limited liability company in Fall River, Massachusetts, USA.
Part of the app lets each cleaning company send service messages to its own clients by SMS, WhatsApp and email. This page covers SMS and WhatsApp.
2.Who sends and who receives
- Sender: the cleaning company
- For example, “Sparkle Home Cleaning”. It gets the client’s consent, decides which messages to send, and is named in them: the default text of every message ends with the company’s name, every WhatsApp template includes it, and replies typed in the chat start with it. Our Terms require companies to keep their name in every message.
- Recipient: the client
- The person who hired the cleaning company to clean their home, at the mobile number they gave the company.
- Platform: Next Clean
- Provides the software. SMS is delivered by Twilio from our toll-free number, +1 833-549-6398; for SMS, Next Clean is not the sender: the cleaning company is. On WhatsApp, messages come from the “Next Clean” business account: Next Clean sends them on behalf of, and with the authorization of, the cleaning company, which is named in every message. Either way, we do not choose who receives messages, and we never send our own marketing to clients.
3.How clients consent, before any message
Clients agree directly with their cleaning company, before the company sends them any SMS or WhatsApp message. Most cleaning companies book work by phone or in person, so consent is usually verbal. The company reads the script below, and only after the client says yes does it check the box for that channel in Next Clean.
3.1 The verbal script
Script the cleaning company reads to the client
“Hi, this is [Company name]. We use Next Clean to send you text messages about your cleaning service: visit reminders and updates, such as on the way, started, finished or rescheduled; estimates and agreements; invoices, receipts, statements and payment reminders; requests to rate your visit; and messages someone at the company writes to you about your service. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to opt out, or HELP for help. Consent is not a condition of purchase. May we text you at this number?”
WhatsApp is asked about separately, for example: “Would you also like to get these updates on WhatsApp, from the Next Clean WhatsApp account, at this number?” A yes to one channel is not a yes to the other.
3.2 Example: a booking call
- Sparkle Home CleaningHi, this is Sparkle Home Cleaning. May we text you at this number?
- ClientYes, you can text me at this number.
- Sparkle Home CleaningThank you. Would you also like to get these updates on WhatsApp, from the Next Clean WhatsApp account, at this number?
- ClientNo, text messages are fine.
- After the callThe company opens the client’s record in Next Clean, checks “Accepts SMS”, leaves “Accepts WhatsApp messages” unchecked, and clicks “Save client”. It adds a note with the date of the call.
3.3 How the yes is recorded
Every client record in Next Clean has a “Consents” section with two separate checkboxes: “Accepts SMS” and “Accepts WhatsApp messages”. Both start unchecked for every new client, and the form says: “Unless you check them, this client gets no WhatsApp or SMS.” Under each box the form adds a reminder (“Only check after the client has agreed to receive texts.” and “Only check after the client has agreed to receive WhatsApp messages.”) with a “How consent works” link to this page. The company checks a box only after the client said yes to that channel.
The app’s change log records each time a consent box is checked or unchecked, with the date and time and the user who made the change (when the change comes from the client’s own STOP or START reply, no user is shown). The app does not record how the client agreed, so the cleaning company keeps that proof itself, for example a note on the client’s record with the date of the call, or a signed form. Our Terms require cleaning companies to keep this proof for at least four years.
3.4 Written consent (alternative)
Some cleaning companies collect consent in writing, in their own service agreement or intake form. Written consent must give the same information as the script. A sample:
[Company name]: text message authorization
I agree to receive text messages from [Company name] at the mobile number below about my cleaning service: visit reminders and updates, such as on the way, started, finished or rescheduled; estimates and agreements; invoices, receipts, statements and payment reminders; requests to rate my visit; and messages someone at the company writes to me about my service. Messages are sent through Next Clean. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to opt out, or HELP for help. Consent is not a condition of purchase. Privacy: nextcleanapp.com/privacy · Terms: nextcleanapp.com/terms
Name: ____________ · Mobile number: ____________
Signature: ____________ · Date: ____________
☐ I also agree to receive these messages on WhatsApp, from the Next Clean WhatsApp account, at this number.
4.No box, no message
The checkboxes are enforced by the app, not left to memory:
- SMS goes to a client only if “Accepts SMS” is checked. WhatsApp goes only if “Accepts WhatsApp messages” is checked. This applies to automatic messages, to documents sent with a button (estimates, agreements, invoices, receipts, statements) and to messages typed in the chat.
- The app checks the box when a message is created and again right before it is sent, so a STOP that arrives in between still stops it.
- If a client accepts no channel that can carry a message, the message is not sent and the company sees it marked as not delivered. An estimate or agreement that could not be sent is not marked as sent.
- Email is a separate channel: it goes to the email address on the client’s record and does not depend on these boxes.
5.Sample messages
These are all the kinds of messages a client can receive by SMS, with the app’s default English text, for a fictional company, “Sparkle Home Cleaning”, and a client named Maria. The same texts exist in Portuguese and Spanish, and each client receives them in their own language. A cleaning company can edit the wording, but it must remain a service message that names the company. Links are examples.
The first message
The first text message a cleaning company sends to a client’s phone number through Next Clean ends with one more line, the opt-out line, in the client’s language:
- English
- “Reply STOP to opt out.”
- Portuguese
- “Responda PARE para sair.”
- Spanish
- “Responda BAJA para no recibir más.” When the rest of the text uses only the basic SMS alphabet (GSM-7), the line goes without the accent, “Responda BAJA para no recibir mas.”, so the line does not change how the message is encoded.
Later text messages from that company to that number do not repeat the line, but the opt-out keywords work at any time. The line is not added when the company’s own text already tells the client how to opt out (for example, “Reply STOP”), or when a message is so long that, with the line, it would go over the 1,600-character SMS limit.

Reply in a conversation
When someone at the company writes to the client in the chat, usually to answer a question or arrange a visit. By SMS it starts with the company’s name.
Sparkle Home Cleaning: Hi Maria, we can come at 10 instead of 9 on Wednesday. Does that work for you?
-
Other service updates set up by the company
A company can write its own automatic updates about the client’s visits and invoices, for example when a visit is rescheduled or canceled, or a thank-you after a payment. Example written by a company:
Hi Maria! Your cleaning was moved to Thursday, Oct 8. Questions? Just reply here. Sparkle Home Cleaning
On WhatsApp
On WhatsApp, the same updates are sent as message templates that Meta must approve, in the same three languages. Each update has its own template; a text the company edited, or wrote in the chat, goes inside the general “new message” template (last example). Within 24 hours after the client writes to the company on WhatsApp, a message goes as plain text instead, like the text messages above. For example:
-
Visit reminder (WhatsApp)

Message from the company (WhatsApp)
Hi Maria! You have a new message from Sparkle Home Cleaning. Here is what it says: We can come at 10 instead of 9 on Wednesday. Does that work for you? (you can reply to this message right here)
Frequency and timing
Message frequency varies based on your service activity with the cleaning company. Automatic messages are limited to the visit, estimate and invoice updates above and to updates the company sets up about your own visits and invoices; everything else is sent by a person at the company. By default, the app holds automatic messages between 9:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. in the company’s time zone. Message and data rates may apply.
6.STOP and HELP
Stop text messages (SMS)
Reply with one of these words, on its own, to any text message:
- STOP
- STOPALL
- UNSUBSCRIBE
- CANCEL
- END
- QUIT
- REVOKE
- OPTOUT
- SAIR
- PARE
- PARAR
- BAJA
- ALTO
Capital letters and punctuation don’t matter (“stop”, “Stop.” and “STOP!” all work), but the reply must be only the keyword: “stop by tomorrow” is read as a normal message. STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT, REVOKE and OPTOUT are the standard opt-out keywords that our SMS provider, Twilio, handles for our number. SAIR, PARE and PARAR (Portuguese) and BAJA and ALTO (Spanish) are handled by Next Clean itself.
What happens when you reply:
- STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT, REVOKE or OPTOUT
- Our SMS provider, Twilio, and the toll-free network block all further SMS from +1 833-549-6398 to your phone, from any company using Next Clean, until you reply START or UNSTOP, and Twilio sends you an automatic confirmation. Next Clean also immediately unchecks “Accepts SMS” on the records that the cleaning company you were last in touch with through this number has with your number.
- SAIR, PARE, PARAR, BAJA or ALTO
- Next Clean immediately unchecks “Accepts SMS” on the records that the cleaning company you were last in touch with through this number has with your number, so that company sends you no more SMS, and replies with a confirmation in the language of the word. In Portuguese: “Pronto: você não vai mais receber SMS de Sparkle Home Cleaning.” In Spanish: “Listo: ya no recibirá más SMS de Sparkle Home Cleaning.” These words stop text messages from that company; to stop text messages from every company that uses Next Clean, reply STOP.
In both cases, messages already waiting to go out are checked again before sending, so they are not sent, and the cleaning company sees that “Accepts SMS” was turned off.
Start text messages again
Reply START (or UNSTOP) to receive text messages again. This lifts the stop at our SMS provider, Twilio, and checks “Accepts SMS” again on the records that the company you were last in touch with through this number has with your number. Other replies, such as “yes”, do not turn text messages back on: they reach the company as a normal message.
Stop WhatsApp messages
On WhatsApp, reply with one of these words, on its own:
- STOP
- STOPALL
- UNSUBSCRIBE
- PARAR
- PARE
- BAJA
Next Clean unchecks “Accepts WhatsApp messages” on the records that the company you were last in touch with through this number has with your number. Reply START or UNSTOP to receive WhatsApp messages again. You can also block the business in WhatsApp at any time. (WhatsApp uses a shorter list on purpose: on WhatsApp, “cancel” almost always means “cancel my visit”.)
Help
Reply HELP (or INFO) to any text message for help. Our SMS provider, Twilio, sends an automatic reply. If you are a client of a cleaning company on Next Clean, your message also appears in your conversation with that company, so a person there can help with your service. For help with the messaging program itself, email support@nextcleanapp.com.
Other ways to opt out
You can also tell the cleaning company in any reasonable way (by phone, in person or in writing); our Terms require it to uncheck the box. Or email support@nextcleanapp.com with your mobile number and the company’s name, and we will make sure your opt-out is applied.
7.Our commitments
- Service messages only. The program sends messages about the client’s own cleaning service. Next Clean has no marketing or mass-texting feature for SMS or WhatsApp, and our Terms forbid using these channels for marketing or promotions.
- Consent first. No SMS or WhatsApp message goes to a client unless the box for that channel is checked: by the cleaning company after the client agreed, or by the client’s own START reply. Consent to receive SMS is not a condition of purchasing any goods or services.
- Frequency and cost. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.
- Quiet hours. By default, automatic messages are not sent between 9:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. in the cleaning company’s time zone.
- U.S. numbers. SMS is sent only to U.S. phone numbers (+1), including U.S. territories such as Puerto Rico, from a U.S. toll-free number. Other +1 numbers, such as Canadian ones, and numbers from other countries get no SMS: the app skips SMS and uses WhatsApp or email, if the client accepts them.
- Clients only. SMS goes only to clients of cleaning companies. Next Clean sends no SMS to owners, office staff or cleaners (see section 8).
- No SHAFT content. No content about sex, hate, alcohol, firearms or tobacco (SHAFT), cannabis or illegal drugs is allowed.
- Opt-outs honored. STOP and the other opt-out keywords above are applied by the app as soon as they arrive. Opt-outs made in other ways are applied as soon as we or the cleaning company receive them, and never later than 10 business days.
- Mobile information stays private. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All other categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties. We share mobile phone numbers only with the service providers that store and deliver messages for us: Supabase and Vercel (hosting), Twilio (SMS) and Meta (WhatsApp). Message text may also be processed by Anthropic when a business user asks the app to draft a reply, and by browser push services for business users’ notifications. None of them may use it for their own purposes or for marketing.
- The company is named. Default texts name the cleaning company, and our Terms require companies to keep their name in every message.
- Accountability. Each cleaning company keeps proof of its clients’ consent for at least four years and must give it on request. We can pause messaging for any company that breaks these rules.
8.Messages to business users
Separately from the client program, Next Clean sends account notifications to the people who run and work for a cleaning company (owners, office staff and cleaners). These never go to the company’s clients, and none of them is sent by SMS: Next Clean sends SMS only to clients who agreed to it. Business users get email, WhatsApp messages and notifications in the app. Each one is sent only when the owner or an authorized user takes an action or turns on a setting:
- Team invitation
- When the owner invites a team member, by WhatsApp or email as the owner chooses (the owner can also copy the link and send it another way). The link expires after 7 days. On WhatsApp: “Hi Ana! You were invited by Sparkle Home Cleaning to join their cleaning team app. Set up your access here: [link] See you there!”
- Pay stub
- When the owner sends it, by WhatsApp or email (automatically: by WhatsApp to the phone on file, or by email when WhatsApp can’t deliver it). On WhatsApp: “Hi Ana! Your pay stub from Sparkle Home Cleaning for this pay period is ready. You can view the details and save a copy here: [link] Thank you!”
- Client reply alert
- A notification in the app, on the devices of users who can see conversations, when a client replies, while the company keeps this setting on (at most one per conversation every 15 minutes).
- Team alerts
- A notification in the app to the people in a team chat when someone writes there, and, only if the owner turns it on, to the users who manage the team when a team member writes to our number.
- Automation alert
- A notification in the app to the owner, from an automation the owner created.
- Daily summary
- A morning notification in the app, and a WhatsApp message to owners who have a phone number on their employee record in the app (Settings → Employees), only if the company turns it on. On WhatsApp: “Good morning, Olga! Here is the summary of Sparkle Home Cleaning for today: [summary] Open the app to see the details.”
- Sign-in and account emails
- Password resets, notices such as a data export being ready, and similar emails, from no-reply@nextcleanapp.com.
An owner enters a team member’s phone number and sends them WhatsApp messages only after that person agrees (see our Terms, section 12). Invitations and pay stubs go only when the owner sends them, and the owner can choose email or change the phone number or email on a team member’s profile. Users can turn app notifications off on their device, and owners can turn off, in the app’s settings, the client reply alert, the alert about team members writing to our number, and the daily summary. On WhatsApp, anyone can also block the business at any time.
